South Africa:


An agreement was concluded with local company “Peninsula Taxi Holdings” to facilitate electronic fare collection within the local taxi industry. 40 Taxi’s servicing the route from Cape Town CBD to the V&A Waterfront participated in the R&D Project. Transporting in excess of 3500 passengers daily the project has seen more than 50% of commuters using the TAP-I-FARE™ cards. The significance also proving interoperability of MyCity cards being used on taxi’s and “vice versa”. Discussions are underway to expand beyond this route.


Translog (Pty) Ltd will roll out Electronic Fare Collection to over 3700 taxi’s within the region over the next two years. The Project kicked off in June 2012, and both operator and commuter take in Pietermaritzburg has been very good. The local taxi industry has embraced the success of phase 1 deployment and the project is currently being deployed further within the region.


TapiFare - Kenya:

Kenya, Nairobi transit community embraces the TAP-I-FARE™ solution. Local company TapiFare-Kenya has acquired rights to deploy the solution with in Kenya and East Africa over the next three years.


Local Taxi Industry embraces the TAP-I-FARE™ solution in Lesotho. Obel Investments have secured the rights to deploy our TAP-I-FARE™ solution throughout Lesotho.
